Buyer

Hours: 35 per week, Monday – Friday 9.00am – 5:00pm

Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum

Location: New Milton, Hampshire

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Our client is current recruiting for a Buyer to support the Supply Chain in all aspects of procurement activities.

You and the team will be the key focal point for the purchasing department regarding all administration and purchasing matters.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage purchase orders based on system demands and forecasts, ensuring smooth transactions.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key vendors and ensure shared processes are efficient.
  • Keep Business Central information accurate and updated, guaranteeing data integrity.
  • Find new parts quickly and efficiently, gathering essential details like price, supplier, and lead time. You’ll also explore new and alternative supplier options.
  • Negotiate and source strategically to achieve cost reductions against set targets. Collaborate with the buyer to ensure competitive purchasing and maximize value from existing suppliers.
  • Help the purchasing administration team achieve their business goals and KPIs.
  • Run, create, and analyse various daily and monthly reports. You’ll also actively participate in meetings, keeping everyone informed.
  • Efficiently manage the process for returned items.
  • Provide administrative support to other Supply Chain functions during peak periods.

In order to be successful in the role of Assistant Buyer, you need to have:

  • Previous experience working within a similar role. This includes great administration skills, experience working in a procurement team with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have a positive ‘can do’ attitude, is self-motivated and can take ownership of situations.
  • GCSE Grade A-C including Maths and English , ‘O’ level standard or NVQ level 2/3
  • Working towards CIPS or equivalent qualification
  • Full understanding of Microsoft packages including Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Experience in negotiating supplier contracts to gain cost reduction
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
